Fostoria Chintz Etched Crystal for Christmas Splendor

December 15, 2010 by Kathy 10 Comments

This last year I’ve shown you tablescapes with pink glass, blue glass, green glass, yellow glass and amber.  After all this there is something special about beautiful pure clear crystal.  Let’s take a look back at one of my favorite tables set with Fostoria Chintz crystal, perfect for a splendid Christmas dinner.

This is the same Fostoria Chintz that starred in our video about console sets.  Fostoria made so many pieces of this fine crystal pattern that you can have a complete dinner set, lunch set and accessory pieces galore.  I thought it would be fun to see some of the other pieces that did not make it on to the table.

Here is Fostoria Chintz on parade, ready to go on the table.

First, you have your choice of goblets.  The taller size is in the tablescape.  How about using that size for wine and this shorter size Chintz goblet for ice water?

Are you planning to serve cranberry sauce?  Or spiced apples?  (My mom served them with pork roast.  They are an acquired taste.)   Or applesauce, or even a small fruit compote or hey, how about some dip to go with the veggies?   This Fostoria Chintz mayo set will work great for all these ideas.  Or you could use it for mayonnaises.  (Did you ever wonder why anyone lived past 30 if they ate so much mayonnaise they needed a special bowl??)

Would you like a different candle holder than the U shaped one?  How about this simple one-candle taller Baroque piece.  It has the lovely crystal wings that do a marvelous job catching the candle light and reflecting it back to you.

As for the console bowl, I’m always torn between the perfect plain flared bowl and the Chintz oval bowl with wing handles.  Which do you like?  Since the purpose of this post is to give face time to all the pieces that wanted to be in the tablescape picture and did not make it, I’m going to go with the simple bowl.  After all, this would be perfect for salad.

The last piece that made it into the post is the most important one.  After all, Santa does like his cookies and this big plate is large enough that he can share a few with the reindeer.

I hope this gave you a few ideas for your Christmas dinner.  Fostoria Chintz glass will turn your plain china table into a wonderful, sparkling festive tablescape.
