We finished looking at Fostoria’s Century pattern and now let’s go back a few years, to the late 1920s and through the Great Depression of the 1930s. One of Fostoria’s most successful patterns was Fairfax.
Fostoria made Fairfax, line 2375, in rose pink, blue, green, clear, some ebony black, orchid, amber and wisteria purple and this lovely topaz yellow color shown in the salad plates set.

Fostoria produced a full dinnerware set in topaz, pink, green and clear, with only limited pieces in the other colors. They sold the undecorated pieces as Fairfax pattern. I’ve seen many pieces of plain pink and topaz, some blue, green and clear but to date have never seen the scarcer colors .
Fairfax is subtle. Look carefully at the plate and notice it is not circular but actually 12-sided. Your eye tends to see this as more circular than it is and the photograph shows the point at the bottom as more pointy than it is in person. Take a look at the blue cup and here and you’ll see what I mean.

One thing that makes Fairfax so enjoyable is the number of pieces Fostoria made. Not only did they make a complete dinnerware set with serving pieces like the bowl, platter, and pitchers, they also made mayonnaise sets, lemon dishes, oil bottles, celery dishes, candle holders, center handled servers and the list goes on.
