Spring is creeping closer! And that means we’re only a month (or so) away from antique shows and outdoor flea markets and sales of all sorts. Last summer my friend Loren and I went to the Allegan Antique Show. Allegan is about 40 minutes from home and they have a couple hundred exhibitors at the show, well worth the drive. We usually go a couple times each year and I usually find something.
Last year’s haul included some interesting Rose Point pieces, the comport and mayo bowl in the the 3900 Martha blank, quite nice.

Isn’t this an interesting shape for a mayonnaise bowl? I’ve never seen it with the matching underplate or ladle, that would be spectacular!

I should have checked the Rose Point more closely as I missed a bit of damage. One sherbet has a chip and the mayo has a couple tiny nicks on the inside edge but otherwise is in great shape.
Two years ago we picked up a couple of very interesting green candle holders. This first one is Viking. The center bowl part comes out – I almost dropped it when I picked it up – and it’s meant to hold flowers between the candles. Very nice piece.

The other candle holders we got were much older, the line 81 from Tiffin in beautiful satinized green glass. I love this shade of green!

I always look out for candle holders. They are among the most beautiful of the vintage glass pieces, and so different from anything you’ll find today. Many years ago I found this Shirley etched holder at a different antique market.
