What’s Fostoria’s most popular pattern? The best known pattern is Fostoria American, the glass that looks like ice cubes. Fostoria made American for almost 100 years so you can imagine how many pieces, and variations of pieces, there are.
This evening on eBay there were over 5000 listings for Fostoria American. I’ve read that Navarre or June is the most popular etched pattern – I like both better than American but then I like etched glass.
There are over 600 Navarre and 400 June listings tonight on eBay.
I checked Meadow Rose, Romance and Holly, which each had between 100 and 250 listings.
Chintz had over 400 listings too, putting it right up there.
One way to tell which patterns were winners back when they were made originally is to look at the production times. Fostoria made Navarre for over 45 years, then Lenox continued the design for a couple more years. Meadow Rose, Chintz, Romance all lasted 29 to 39 years, a respectable run. You know a company as savvy as Fostoria would not have continued to make those unless there was a healthy market.
June is a little different. Fostoria made topaz June for only a few years, blue and pink for over 10 years, but the crystal survived the 1940s and was in productions for 43 years, a very long time for a glass pattern. You can find all four colors listed on eBay and they all have their fans.
