I found the most interesting blog site. It’s called Afternoon Tea Across America – Traveling Teapot and is a labor of love for the members. Each person takes turns to use and care for a small teapot for a month. At the end of the month they pack up the teapot and send on to the next person on the list.
The only requirements seem to be a love of tea, a willingness to share the teapot with friends, and to blog about your life during the month. The April teapot custodian loves Cherry Blossom depression glass and found some at an estate sale she chanced on. It’s a lovely story and good pictures.
Her Cherry Blossom plates are the small 6 inch size or maybe the slightly larger salad plates and they are the real thing. You can tell they are authentic by the pattern detail and the crisp design. The cherry leaves on many fakes are sketched in, not realistic looking. She was so happy to find these cheerful little plates!
Besides glass I adore vintage table linens, especially the bright table cloths from the 1940s and 50s. This lady’s very next post was all about using the linens for tea cozies. What a great idea! So often the cloths are too beat up to use without feeling sad every time you see the holes and stains. Cutting them down for a unique cozy is a great way to extend their life and add even more joy to your world.
I really need to contact the author. Not only did she talk about two of my favorite things, she even showed books about vintage table linens written by EllynAnne Geisel. You know what I borrowed from our library now, don’t you?
