I believe you will enjoy vintage glassware on your table even if you have just a piece or two. Most of my glass customers buy pieces to add to what they got from family so they have enough to use. Many combine patterns and colors and use what they love, whether it is all one pattern or not.
My purpose in showing you these mix-and-match depression glass tables is so you can get ideas how to use your glass in your home – even just a few pieces. It’s sad when people cherish glass but don’t feel comfortable using it. Please let me know your ideas, how do you use vintage glass and what do you like best.
This table combines American Sweetheart monax white depression glass plates, cups and saucers with Windsor pink depression glass tumblers and sherbets. These patterns are so different.
- American Sweetheart is thin translucent glass with a beautiful design of scrolls and swags
- Windsor is heavier with molded diamonds.
- American Sweetheart looks delicate in angelic white with scalloped rims. (In fact it’s tough stuff. Truly.)
- Windsor looks sturdy with classical lines similar to older pressed glass.
The white opalescent American Sweetheart looks good in person on a tablecloth but it didn’t photograph well so I’m not using any table coverings today. Do you recognize the pink bowl? It is Swirl pink depression glass from Jeannette – the same bowl we saw last week in our Swirl teal and pink table. It is the same color pink as the Windsor and I like how the shapes and patterns go together.
This next picture shows the pretty design on the American Sweetheart rim.
I picked these two partly to show how you can combine contrasting depression glass patterns and because these are both good choices if you are interested in depression glass and just want a few pieces. Both American Sweetheart in monax white and Windsor pink depression glass are reasonably easy to find, come in lots of neat pieces and are affordable.
Did you notice the one sad saucer all by itself without a cup? That’s one problem using my store inventory for Tablescape Thursday, people do buy it up. (In fact several Windsor tumblers sold today.) I wanted to show you a full table though, even if it is a little incomplete.
