This one has a pair of birds facing each other on a big urn overflowing with flowers. What make this one fancy? It’s a cocktail stem. You can imagine [...]

I got these at an estate sale because they are just the neatest pieces. I love the idea of using a tumbler with a handle for lemonade in the summer – no more wet glasses slipping out of your hand. This basket etch is especially nice. I showed Heisey Dutchess etched sherbets with basket motif [...]

“Oh my”, you are saying, “she can’t tell pink from blue!” Actually this is a story about a blue that should be pink but is purple instead. It’s the Un-Pink. Bear with me please, this will become clear. This plate is Tiffin Fontaine etch in their coveted Twilight color. Fontaine is old, made 1924 to [...]

Last week you voted for your favorite of the three green depression glass tablescapes, Lorain Basket, Georgian Lovebirds and Cameo Dancing Girl. A few weeks ago Bill, of Affordable Accoutrements, posted a joyous tablescape that used restaurant china made in the 1920s. The china was cream with russet griffins, scrolls and swags. Do you think the griffins were looking for their mates in these tumblers? I tilted the glass a bit so you could see the pattern. [...]

What do you find when you go antiquing? What do you look for that you don’t find? Leave a comment so we can compare and share. Dave and I went antiquing on our way home from Tennessee yesterday and today. We found nothing at a flea market, a few pieces of way over-priced glass at [...]

Welcome to this week’s Tablescape Thursday post. Let me be up front here, I’m not sure this table setting works. The idea was to combine this very nice casual dinnerware from Royal Doulton with cut glass stemware that echoed the line theme. Tell me what you think. The country style tablecoth came from my mom [...]

Today it’s time for a pop quiz. Here are three pieces of etched crystal, all made about the same time period, and all featuring roses, swags and center medallions in their design. Can you identify them? No fair looking at the captions first! Our first contestant is a candy dish with lid. Our second contestant [...]
