It’s February. Valentines Day is over. It’s still winter here in mid-Michigan – but it was sunny today; the birds were singing and it was in the 40s. I can see spring. So let’s toss off the winter blues and celebrate those early signs of warm breezes, nesting birds and daffodils peeking through the snow. [...]

Every time I see mayonnaise sets like this Fostoria Chintz set I wonder how on earth people used enough mayo that they needed a separate serving piece. This mayo bowl is about 5 1/2 inches wide and holds a little under two cups. Although I have trouble imagining using this for mayo it would be [...]

I’ve read that pizza sales go up 30% on Super Bowl Sunday. So… are you looking for a better way to serve that pizza than in the ugly cardboard box it came in? This center handled server would be a great contrast. This is Fostoria Romance center handled server on the Sonata blank, very pretty [...]

This is topaz yellow glass week. We’re coming up to Valentines Day and before we go down the pink road let’s look at another springtime fresh color. This creamer is from Fostoria Glass and is their Fairfax pattern. Fostoria used Fairfax for a lot of their etches in the late depression era, including June and [...]

Most of the Fostoria glass we’ve seen here has been etched. Fostoria made many beautiful cuttings as well, including this old Large Star Cut sherry goblet. This is one of the earliest Fostoria cuttings, dating to 1904 to 1927. Fostoria used this on a wide array of pieces, mostly stemware and accessories. We’ve had [...]

Let’s take a look back at one of my favorite tables set with Fostoria Chintz crystal, perfect for a splendid Christmas dinner. This is the [...]

Two of my favorite type of glass are bowls and candle holders and a console set is just about perfect. Fostoria Glass made console bowls and candle holders in all sorts of shapes and decorated with beautiful etches. Here is a link to a video we did this afternoon that shows off three different Fostoria [...]

This is really an unfair comparison! This week’s tablescape is a vignette of two serving pieces, both center handled serving trays, both Fostoria Glass, both etched with ribbons, bows and pretty flower bouquets. Which one do you like better? What a dilemma! When you go to a lunch that serves dessert – in this case [...]
