Thank you for visiting us today for a lunch full of sunshine. We’re going to have fun using Patrician amber depression glass for our menu of omelets, toast, strawberries and coffee. Doesn’t that sound good?
See what I mean about sunshine? The amber color glows and it looks good on the white tablecloth with a shadow design.
Patrician is a neat combination of tailored and frilly pretty. You can see the scalloped edges and pretty pattern. The design is symmetrical and has a well-finished look. The center medallion on the lunch plate looks like a wheel, doesn’t it. That design is why early collectors called this pattern “Spoke”.
Here’s a good view of the cup and saucer with the salt and pepper shakers and large fruit bowl in the background. Amber is hard to photograph so it shows the color accurately and I left this photo with the golden reflections from the glass and our warm colored walls.
Oh my, the reflection in the spoon looks funny! My silver is an Oneida silverplate set we used for several years as our good silverware. Let’s see about getting a photo without a spooky spoon.
Federal Glass made Patrician and they made more amber patterns than the other depression glass companies. Federal promoted their amber glass as Golden Glo and it must have been more difficult to produce because it was one of the last colors introduced during the 1930s.
Amber glass goes up and down in popularity and if you like the warm sunny color it is a good choice. Usually amber is less expensive than pink or green and there are some very pretty patterns available. Patrician is one of my favorites. I like the design and the shapes and the wide array of shapes and sizes.
I was fortunate to buy a large set of Patrician, including some of the hard-to-find pieces like the large fruit bowl shown here, the cookie jar, cereal and berry bowls and many serving pieces. It’s on my to-do list to get it all out on my store and so far it’s about two-thirds done. There are enough pieces to use for more Tablescapes in the future.
I hope you enjoyed my sunshine table with amber depression glass.
Thank you to Susan from Between Naps on the Porch and friends for this fun Tablescape Thursday.
If you would like to recreate this look please see our store Cat Lady Kate’s Elegant and Depression Glass for Patrician. Our store on eBay carries Patrician too if you prefer to go there.

GORGEOUS! I used to collect amber depression glass – but then got an offer I couldn’t refuse when we moved from Texas to NY, and had to let it go. Loved setting the table with it. So beautiful, and rich. Your place setting is stunning. Thank you for sharing! Great job~! Changes to the garden are posted, hope you can stop by and take a peak when you get the chance!
Take care! A

Your collection is lovely The yellow seems to be harder to find around here anyway. Mostly I see the pink and green.

I love your amber Depression glass collection! I’ve tried to photograph a tablescape with my mother’s set — she, too, ,has lots of pieces — but I’ve found it hard to capture its beauty. You’ve done a great job of showing it off here!

Oh I have been craving ‘yellow’ or amber depression glass for so long. Yours is just gorgeous, even spooky spoon. What great photos and a beautiful table. Thanks so much for sharing it. I may just have to start a new piggy bank.

The amber glass looks very fine almost like lace or like cut glass. I adore this sunshine color. It makes a sunny look on the table and in my mind.
