Thank you to Susan from Between Naps on the Porch and friends for this fun Tablescape Thursday. Today we’re enjoying lunch for two on Fostoria’s Trojan topaz elegant etched glass. Trojan is really beautiful, in fact it is one of my favorite patterns which is funny because just going by photos in books I thought it was kind of boring. It’s not. I found my first piece a few years ago and was astonished by how lively and pretty it is.
The only problem with Trojan is the yellow color is difficult to photograph so we have a studio shot first before the seeing how our table looks.
The sterling flatware is Rose Point by Wallace and the crystal small comport is Chintz etched glass, also from Fostoria. Here’s another view that shows the footed water tumbler. I enjoy these signature pieces of the elegant glass era, especially the tumblers that are cone shaped. They are just neat pieces. Trojan uses the Fairfax blank which combines colored bowl with clear stem and foot. Can you see the crystal foot here?
This is how it looks when you sit down to admire the pretty glassware and sterling.
Fostoria made Trojan in pink too, but the clear light sunshine yellow is the color to pick. The design is a fan shaped leaf set off with just a few small scrolls. It is understated and so elegant. The pieces have good shapes that by themselves look great and are perfect frames for the etch. I couldn’t resist showing off our pretty lunch set and I hope you enjoyed visiting.
If you want to recreate this look in your own home the Trojan pieces and Chintz comport are available at Cat Lady Kate’s Elegant and Depression Glass.
