Here’s an all over crystal table to show how a place setting would have looked for lunch 60 years ago. Contemporary hostesses often combine crystal plates with china, allowing the crystal to add sparkle and style with the china giving a solid backdrop. This was less common when Tiffin Glass made this lovely cut glass pattern; hostesses would combine crystal stemware with china – that has been a perennial style – but combining plates is a newer trend.
As styles have gotten less rigid we’re experimenting more and having fun mixing and matching. This tablescape is all glass. The lunch plate holds a tall sherbet glass ready for a fruit cup; the small stem is for a little cocktail and the goblet is for wine.
This glass is Dolores cut crystal from Tiffin Glass, made about 20 years beginning 1948. It’s pretty like this, all in one pattern together, but the great thing about Dolores is that it’s a blendable pattern. You could put this goblet with a different wine stem or with almost any contemporary china and have a beautiful table. The glass has style and it’s a style that plays well with others. Look for Dolores in future tablescapes paired with other glass and dinnerware.

I’m a big Depression Glass fan — that’s my kind of crystal for sure even though it’s a bit late. I collect bronze Fostoria. Yours is lovely and would mix so perfectly with anything.
