Welcome to Pink Saturday! Remember Beverly of How Sweet the Sound has a challenge to all of us to visit at least one new blog every week. It’s always fun to see everyones visions of pink.
This footed tumbler is one of my favorite depression glass patterns, Floral or Poinsettia by Jeannette Glass. It’s so darn hard to photograph, especially in pink. We’ll have to pretend we can’t see the photo and go by description.
OK, I turned my descriptive super powers on.
The glass itself is medium thick. This is not one of those patterns like Dogwood where you have delicate-looking glass all thin and pretty. Floral is closer to Hocking’s Mayfair in thickness.
There is a series of vertical panels around the side that end just below the rim and the cone shaped body fits on top a round foot.
Oh, pardon me. I forgot, you want to know what the design looks like. Sorry. Floral has big flowers with 10 petals. The petals look like leaves and the flower centers have upwards pointing little stamens, so it looks kind of like a poinsettia. The leaves are huge, bigger than the flowers, and they have 5 long narrow lobes attached at the center. The leaves are nothing like a poinsettia. No way, not even close.
I wrote a previous blog post about the flower identity theories, you can read it here.
I love cone shaped footed tumblers, they are just neat pieces. Combine that nifty shape with this extravagantly flower and leaf bedecked pattern and you have a winner. Jeannette made Floral depression glass in pink and in green so you can pick your favorite.
Thanks for visiting our Pink Saturday pink depression glass post this week, and as always a big thank you to Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for organizing this fun event.

That is such a wonderful goblet. I love pink depression glass, and I think it’s pefect for a spring table. It just makes me happy. Thank you, too, for your information on the pattern. I think that’s the perfect choice for Pink Saturday, and I’m filling my imaginary one and toasting you with it!
Happy Pink Saturday…

Nothing prettier than some of the depression glass. I have a few pieces in the pink and just love it.
