How do you like this combination of modernistic styled round forms with the delicate floral sprays cutting?  This is the Nosegay cutting on Contour blank by Fostoria Glass.  No surprise Fostoria made this in the 1950s – that mid century modern style demanded curvy shapes.

I like the Contour shapes.  That curved free form looking handle goes perfectly with the heavier sham base.  Contour plates are cupped and the bowls curve over and come in neat shapes.

Nosegay must have been somewhat popular since Fostoria made it for nearly 20 years.  The understated cutting looks perfect for the 1960s – the era of the little black dress and pearls – but it doesn’t seem to quite go with the 1950s Contour shapes.

I’ve not seen Nosegay stemware in person.  It looks more put together in photos than do the accessory pieces like relish trays, the stems curl up a little at the top and look great with the traditional floral sprays.

The creamer and its matching sugar are a good retro combination.  You can see them in our eBay store, Catladykates Vintage Elegant Depression Glass and in our larger store Cat Lady Kate’s Elegant and Depression Glass.

I’m not doing a tablescape this week.  My blog site is getting remodeled right now and posts are getting a little overwhelmed with the orange background color that my new WordPress theme uses.  I’m getting the color and some layout problems fixed (by someone who knows what they are doing, unlike me) and it should be done in a couple weeks.  I’ll go back to the Tablescape Thursdays once the page is presentable.
