Fostoria Glass Chintz Etch

Here’s an elegant glass pattern that you can enjoy using.  This is Fostoria Glass’ etched Chintz crystal.  It came in a wide variety of stemware plus accessories like this creamer.   If you have a collection of Chintz please be sure to leave a comment.   We’d all like to read how you enjoy using your treasures, so please send your stories to Stories@catladykate.com and we’ll publish here (with your permission) and on our website community page

A tip for recognizing Chintz is the design looks spiky.  The large creamer shown here has the pointed leaf sprays and you can see some of the jagged rose vines on the side.  It is a lovely pattern, with roses, leaves and thorny vines. 

Fostoria Glass made their beautiful Chintz etch from 1940 to 1973, so it had a longer production run than many patterns.  It is one of the most popular Fostoria etched patterns today.

Chintz was etched on the wonderful Baroque blank, which is enlivened by its pressed fleur de lis and scalloped rim.   Stemware was the 6026 blank which is fairly elaborate with a knobbed and faceted stem and flared rim bowl.
