Remember summer, how fleeting and warm? Here in mid-Michigan summer is long past and we’re staring winter in the face. This beautiful glass pattern is June, a perfect name for a beautiful piece that will remind you of the blue sky on a summer morning. Fostoria Glass made June from 1928 to 1944 in Topaz [...]

We went antiquing today at Jeffrey’s Antique Mall and found lots of great stuff. I didn’t buy much, just this Florentine Poppy green sherbet and some Tiffin Eldorado etched crystal tumblers. Eldorado has griffins in the etch, very special. I don’t have the Eldorado photographed yet but these Poppy sherbets are listed. Florentine Poppy green [...]

Welcome and thank you for visiting. Also thank you Susan of Between Naps on the Porch for hostessing this fun Tablescape event each week. This week we’re using a different green depression glass pattern, Florentine or Poppy from Hazel Atlas. This is another of my favorites for its exuberant design of poppies strewn all over the [...]

Did you tilt your screen to see this right side up? One of the hallmarks of depression glass is that it’s, let’s be nice here, not perfect. Most pieces have little blobs or glass or odd lines or raised seams or yes, wobbly stems. This sherbet is depression glass but it’s an odd pattern, Diamond [...]

Here’s a Mid Century Modern delight. Red Wing made Random Harvest dinnerware in the 1950s and its retro styling is perfect. This is a change from stemware and candy dishes – but there is a reason. Our store, Cat Lady Kate’s Elegant and Depression Glass is having a sale through January 31 2010. Just use [...]

Yes, I know. It’s a bit tacky to show something pretty then tell you this post isn’t about you. That’s because it’s about all those people who feel compelled to shop frantically for just that perfect present for you. Are you picky? Would you really rather pick out your own garish tie with Rudolph or [...]

Reason #10: Depression glass is beautiful! The colors are entrancing, the designs are compelling. Take this Patrician depression glass pattern from Federal Glass. This has a neat design on the rim like little Vs and a center medallion that looks like a wagon wheel. You won’t find colored glass made today that is prettier than [...]

Patrician depression glass is the second or third pattern I bought when I started in glass and I’ve always liked this pattern. I like green very much and the simple shapes and designs appeal to me. Patrician comes in green and amber and was made during the mid-1930s. This is a mold-etched design, where [...]

Fostoria Glass Coronet pattern is very simple with clean elegant lines. The design is a band of three lines that curve around the rim and many shapes have a soft scallop. The picture shows the ice bucket which is footed and shows off the stylish design. Fostoria used Coronet for only a few decorations, Willowmere [...]

Norm W, a fellow glass lover sent me this photo to ask for more information as the reference books do not mention this shape for Jeannette’s Floragold glass. The pattern looks like Floragold, although the flowers and leaves are a little more rounded, but the scalloped rim and little curled feet look like the oval [...]
