Welcome to Tablescape Thursday on a lazy summer evening. It’s a great day for green. Today’s table combines three Haviland Limoges china patterns with etched crystal goblets from Cambridge Glass and topped off with a green crystalline glaze vase from artist Dave Eickholt.

Haviland Limoges Green Themed China

All the china pieces are vintage French Limoges, thin and light, almost translucent.

Haviland Limoges China Green on White

The dinner plates have a beautiful design of green and gold scrolls in a thin band around the rim – they would look great on a Christmas table, lovely and festive. Besides the Haviland Limoges backstamp these dinner plates are marked as being an exclusive for a department store. Back in the day this was not uncommon; high end stores might commission special patterns or exclusive lines.

Haviland Limoges China Place Setting

I like how the soup bowls compliment the dinner plates. The design is different but the greens blend perfectly. Here’s a close up for you.

Haviland Limoges China Green Borders Detail

Here is the full table. The little bread and butter plates are decorated with dark green flower sprays. The green is a little different, darker and more olive tone, than the green in the border on the other dishes. I like how it goes together.

Haviland Limoges Fine French China with Green Designs

The goblets are from Cambridge Glass. I bought them thinking they were a Tiffin design but they are etch number 701 from Cambridge with baskets of flowers connected with swags around the bowl and an intricate border on the rim. They go well with the china that also has border patterns. I like combining vintage crystal with older china.

Welcome to Tablescape Thursday. Today we have something different for you, a table full of ultramarine teal depression glass and Tiffin cut crystal stemware captured in photos and a video.

The teal glass is Swirl from Jeannette Glass. It’s a simple design that looks great in the rich ultramarine glass. How do you like the graceful cut stemware with the plates and cups. The swooping line of the cut leaf spray picks up the swirl and scalloped rims on the plate, and the little faceted wafer in the stem looks grand with the circles in the plates and the angled cup handle.

Petal Swirl and Tiffin Dolores Cut Crystal Stemware

My mom had these linen place mats as far back as the 1950s. The cheerful vintage design is yellow with blue and green. There’s not a trace of teal anywhere but they look good with the vintage glass and stemware and I like the sunshine colors. The only down side is the plates look green from the yellow peeking through.

Jeannette Swirl Ultramarine and Tiffin Dolores Stemw

Tiffin Glass, like a lot of stemware and dinnerware makers, used their favorite pattern names for more than one pattern. This cut stemware is the Dolores cutting, a simple line of stylized leaves. A second Dolores pattern is etched and looks nothing like this cut crystal; the glasses have different shapes and the etch is sort of a wreath. If you buy glass online always check the pictures and not just the description or title – you wouldn’t want to order cut Dolores and get the etched stems.

Tiffin Dolores Cut Vintage Stemware with Swirl Ultramarine Depression Glass

Jeannette’s Swirl glass has never been reproduced so don’t worry about that. The only thing to be careful of is the ultra marine color varies a little and you may see pieces that are a little greener than the ones on this table.

Tiffin Dolores Cut Vintage Stemware with Swirl Ultramarine Depression Glass

Today’s tablescape is is one of those things that sounds like a great idea in the middle of the night that isn’t maybe quite so wonderful when you’re actually awake. Does your subconscious play tricks on you too?

The dishes are American Sweetheart, a gorgeous depression glass pattern here in soft pure white. I’m not usually crazy about white but this glass reminds me of angels and Christmas and is just plain pretty. It’s thin and full of these fanciful swags and paisley shapes, just beautiful. I wanted to offset the white with deep purple and mixed this with amethyst and crystal goblets and a deep mulberry comport.

What do you think? A winner? Or strange?

American Sweetheart Place Setting and Amethyst Flair Stemware

The goblets with twisted purple stem and clear crystal bowl are from Czechoslovakia Crystal, appropriately named Flair in amethyst. They are good quality and just a lovely size.

Czechoslovakia Crystal Goblet with American Sweetheart Dishes

American Sweetheart is one of the top depression glass patterns and some of the earlier pieces have an opalescent edge that looks blue. You can see the dinner plates are thinner at the edge and translucent.

American Sweetheart Monax White Depression Glass Tablescape

Here’s another view showing the whole table.

American Sweetheart Table Setting

The deep purple glass comport doesn’t show up well. I’m not sure who made this but it looks like Cambridge Glass Plainware pattern in mulberry, a deep purple. Here’s a better picture.

Amethyst Comport Cambridge Glass Plainware Mulberry

Please leave a comment and let me know what you think of this. If you like it, then I’ll take a bow, and if you don’t, let’s blame it on that pesky subconscious!

Are you ready for a romantic flowery table in pink depression glass? This pattern is so beautiful. Dogwood flowers bloom lavishly all over the plates and make a restrained bouquet on the tumblers.

Dogwood Pink Depression Glass

The Dogwood dinner plate is a great size at 9 1/2 inches, because it is smaller and easier to work with on the table and makes portions look larger. That pretty tumbler is super hard to find and I was lucky to get it. The dogwood flower design is made of tiny pale pink beads that are raised on the surface and it looks great on the rounded shape and thin glass. That odd looking bowl in the left just above the fork is the footed sherbet that we’re using for fruit slices. All the MacBeth Evans patterns had this neat shape sherbet; they are footed and flare out. Cup, saucer and cereal or salad bowl complete the place setting.

Here’s another view that shows the tumbler and sherbet.

Dogwood Pink Depression Glass

People bought several pieces shown right after I took the pictures. It’s almost funny since that has happened several times; all I need to do is plan a tablescape and poof! Someone buys the glass. Dogwood pink depression glass is pretty enough that I thought you’d like to see it even if we don’t have the tumblers and sherbets in stock.

Dogwood Pink Depression Glass

MacBeth Evans made Dogwood and it’s another of their patterns that looks thin and delicate but is quite sturdy, much like fine china. It looks so pretty on the table.

Dogwood Pink Depression Glass

I hope you enjoyed seeing our Dogwood flowers blooming on the table. It’s more fun to use your glass than to let it collect dust in the china cabinet, so if you have vintage glassware please let this remind you to put it out and enjoy a beautiful and unusual table setting with friends.

We’re having a little wine and cheese party today. Let’s use Navarre etched crystal, one of the most collected glass patterns from Fostoria. I don’t have many pieces, just enough for a glass of wine, a plate of crackers and a glass of champagne.

Fostoria Navarre Etched Crystal Place Setting

The goblets are the claret wines, larger than the regular wine stems which are tiny in this pattern, and smaller than the tall water goblet. I find claret wines a good size in most Fostoria patterns.

This photo shows the pattern better. It’s pretty with the upside down dangling bouquets surrounded by scrolls and swags.

Fostoria Glass Navarre Etched Crystal Claret Wine Goblet

Here’s another view of the table showing the pretty interplay between the two sizes of stems, the lunch plate and the Baroque candle.

Fostoria Navarre Etched Crystal Place Setting

This is what you would see when you sit down with this place setting.

Fostoria Glass Navarre Etched Crystal Wine and Cheese Party

Here’s another view that shows the candle holder better. That candle holder is special. It’s Fostoria’s Baroque crystal with the upswept wings and holds two candles. Fostoria made at least nine different candle holders with the Navarre etch, some held one candle, others two and a few even held three candles. A table setting with these would be spectacular.

Fostoria Glass Navarre Etched Crystal

It’s time to go in now and enjoy a few light crackers and a glass of wine. Good night!

Welcome to Tablescape Thursday. Today we have flowers and more flowers with Petalware Fleurette lunch setting on my mom’s flowery tablecloth.

Petalware is depression glass. MacBeth Evans made it in a light pink, clear and this beautiful opalescent looking monax white glass. The white plates must have been irresistible to both decorating companies and talented customers because decorated plates abound. This particular design, with stylized coral red flowers, is called Fleurette and it’s my favorite. I thought it looked great on the tablecloth my mom hand-embroidered with pink flowers.

Petalware Monax Fleurette Depression Glass

Here is a picture of our table set for two. I have quite a few pieces of undecorated monax Petalware that look good with the Fleurette pieces but decided to show only the summery flowers. You can see the pink and white glass in these previous posts: Petalware Posts

Petalware Monax Fleurette Depression Glass Table

Here’s a close up of the cup so you can see the simple pattern of the glass.

Petalware Monax Fleurette Flower Design Depression Glass

Last picture is this single place setting. Wouldn’t this be fun for lunch with your friend? You could go antiquing first, then come home and enjoy a relaxing salad and a cup of tea together.

Ready for roses on your crystal tablescape this week? Here is a simple lunch setting for two on Fostoria Meadow Rose, all full of roses and curlicues, pretty and classic.

Fostoria Meadow Rose Etched Crystal Lunch Setting

Meadow Rose is one of the patterns we specialize in but I have more accessory pieces than plates and you can see two of them gracing our table, the exquisite comport and the perfectly sized creamer and sugar. I blogged about the tumblers earlier — they are among my favorites.

I used our Oneida silver plate because there is a small band of flowers around the edge. It looks great with the roses and scroll design.

Fostoria Meadow Rose Etched Crystal Lunch Setting

I used my mother’s embroidered tablecloth which I love since it reminds me of her. She enjoyed embroidering so much.

Mom's Tablecloth Detail

It’s hard to see the design on the Meadow Rose on the white tablecloth so here’s a picture of just the creamer so you can see it. Fostoria made multiple sizes of creamers and sugars in most of their patterns, including Meadow Rose. The one here is the larger size, about 4 inches tall. It holds just enough for a bowl of cereal.

Fostoria Glass Meadow Rose Etched Crystal Creamer

How do you like the way the flowers on the edges of the silverware looks with the curled flower design?

Fostoria Glass Meadow Rose Etched Crystal

Here’s another look at a place setting on mom’s tablecloth.

Fostoria Glass Meadow Rose Etched Crystal

Today we’re visiting one of the most unusual depression glass patterns, Dogwood by MacBeth Evans. Dogwood is well known, so why is it unusual?

Dogwood glass is filled with big beautiful exuberant blossoms and looks like a floral brocade. It’s like someone shook their tree until all the lovely dogwood flowers fell to the ground. Also the pieces are not all round. Can you see the point on the left side of this cup, just above the handle? Yes, the cup rim is slightly scalloped. You won’t notice the scallops while you use the cup, but the add a touch of uniqueness to this pattern.

Dogwood Pink Depression Glass Cup

MacBeth Evans made Dogwood and like their other patterns Stippled Rose or American Sweetheart, the glass is thin and amazingly durable. That thinness makes the glass feel delicate and special, like your grandmother’s bone china.

You can choose among many pieces of Dogwood and have fun building a small set to use for lunch or dessert with your friends. It is one of the prettiest patterns and one you will enjoy displaying and using.

Thank you for visiting this week’s Pink Saturday and a big thank you to Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for organizing this fun event.

Shopping Information: If you like Dogwood pink depression glass then please shop our store Cat Lady Kate’s Elegant and Depression Glass. It’s like antiquing with your best friend.

I recently went antiquing and found this wonderful set of Lorain green depression glass. I couldn’t wait to see how it looked on a table.

What do you think? A winner?

Lorain Basket Green Depression Glass

I like the basket design and the square shapes and the interesting tumblers and cups. It seemed perfect for Tablescape Thursday with our hostess Susan from Between Naps on the Porch.

Lorain Basket Green Depression Glass

This is a beautiful pattern with an Art Deco look. See how the tumbler has a stair step square foot? That reminds me of the 1930s sky scrapers with the stepped look.

Lorain Basket Green Depression Glass

Here’s a view from the other side so you can see the neat 4-part relish dish. I love the scalloped rim and tab handles. It looks great.

Lorain Basket Green Depression Glass

I wouldn’t say Lorain is rare exactly, but it isn’t well known and Indiana made it for only three years, 1929 to 1932. You don’t see much of it. Indiana made it in green, yellow and some clear and clear with colored rims. The yellow is a soft clear pretty yellow. You can imagine how fresh and springy this looks with the beautiful baskets of flowers in springtime green or yellow glass. So cheerful.

Lorain Basket Etched Green Depression Glass

Like other Indiana depression glass patterns Lorain often has extra glass on the mold seams. Even when there is no damage the extra glass is uneven and thin so it feels rough. In other words, this was mass produced and the maker wasn’t too picky. That’s something to consider when you purchase glass: Depression glass isn’t going to be superior quality and there will be some mold blobs and straw marks. I find these small imperfections part of the charm.

Lorain Basket Etched Green Depression Glass

Next time you want a bountiful basket of flowers think of Lorain green depression glass.

Today we’re going to have dinner for two with a small fruit cup on one of my favorite depression glass patterns, Georgian Lovebirds.

Georgian Lovebirds Green Depression Glass Two Place Settings

Can you see the birds perching inside the triangles around the rim on the sherbets? That’s why we call this pretty pattern “Lovebirds”, there are two birds close together. The tumblers have baskets instead of birds.

Georgian Lovebirds Green Depression Glass Close Up

Most pieces alternate triangular cartouches of birds and baskets; just the tumblers and some dinner plates are different. I’m using the dinner plates that have the center medallion and border on the rim but no birds and no baskets. (Do you ever think those depression glass makers just liked to fool us?)

Georgian Lovebirds Green Dinner Plate No Birds

I talked about this bird-less plate in an earlier blog post.

Georgian is one of my favorite patterns and a perennial best seller. I like the color – green is fresh and beautiful – and the pretty design and the interesting shapes and pieces. The design is first rate, lots of fun and lots of looks. And yes, I even like the fact the birds come and go on a few pieces!

Georgian Lovebirds Green Depression Glass Table

The vase is from noted artist Dave Eickholt and has a crystalline glaze. I wanted something different than the pieces I’ve shown before and decided this was an interesting contrast. The crystalline glazes are fascinating with such depth of color that even a combination like this, with grass green glass and an aqua tinged green glazed vase, go great together.

Georgian Lovebirds Green Depression Glass

Here are the tumblers so you can see the baskets overflowing with flowers.

Georgian Lovebirds Green Depression Glass

Last but not least, here is that beautiful crystalline glaze vase from Dave Eickholt.

Dave Eickholt Crystalline Glazed Porcelain Vase

Thank you to Susan from Between Naps on the Porch and friends for this fun Tablescape Thursday.
