It’s terribly windy out tonight even though it’s been warm enough to melt snow today. It’s getting closer to Easter and spring time and that means we’ll have a passel of bunnies in our yard. I like rabbits except when they eat my zinnias. Here’s a bunny that will never ever get into the zinnias [...]

Here is an unusual piece of elegant depression glass, the Fostoria Grape brocade etched round candle holder. This color is called Orchid. Is it pink? Is it lilac? I’m not sure and possibly Fostoria wasn’t either. Thus the name Orchid. The Grape etch is a brocade etch, meaning the entire piece is etched. The design [...]

She put them on the tables in the living room, on the hearth and on the mantle. When she died I got some of her decorating supplies but mine sure don’t [...]

Well, what do we have here for Pink Saturday? This is a hard to find water goblet from Central Glass in pink, perfect for our weekend. Central went out of business in 1939, a victim of the great depression. It made exquisite etched glass including this pattern, Scott’s Morning Glory, and was known for [...]

Remember the Twist? Chubby Checker popularized this strange dance in the 1960s, a time of many strange happenings. How about this Twist pink nut cup from Heisey Glass instead? Much nicer and much more comfortable than tying yourself in knots. Heisey was known for their high end crystal stemware and dinnerware, both etched and pressed. [...]

Do you remember the television show Flipper? (I’m showing my age here…) Did you ever want to swim with a dolphin? That might be hard to achieve but we can enjoy dolphins cavorting in glass. Dolphins were a favorite glass motif in the late 1920s and early 1930s, maybe a carryover from the fascination with [...]

Tired of depression glass? (I know, that’s heresy. But maybe just a teensy bit ready for something else?) How about some pink elegant glass goblets from Heisey? Isn’t this an interesting shape with the flared plain stem and nipped in rounded square bowl. The bowl has a diamond optic which adds sparkle and gives this [...]
