This is a Georgian sherbet from Federal Glass, a very nice and favorite depression glass pattern. Georgian is nicknamed “Lovebirds” due to the medallion of two lovebirds alternating with basket medallions. I recently got an email from an eBayer informing me that my sherbet is most likely reproduced because “it was too heavy, too large [...]

We’ve had a couple posts about MacBeth Evans Petalware depression glass, the more recent is about the monax white Petalware and the other looks at the pink Petalware depression glass. This will be our last post about Petalware for a while, but it is such a neat pattern that so many creative people felt compelled [...]

A couple posts ago we showed one of my favorite things, elegant depression glass console bowls. Here’s another type of glass that is equally entrancing, the center handled sandwich server, also called center handled tray, center handled server or CHS. Regardless what you call it, this is one of the signature pieces of the depression [...]

Beautiful June etched glass from Fostoria is one of the most elegant etchings from the depression era. It is a joyful, happy design with bouquets and flowers spilling out and cascading down the side, all tied with a ribbon and a bow. There is a second ribbon twirling around in big U shaped loops. [...]

Norm W, a fellow glass lover sent me this photo to ask for more information as the reference books do not mention this shape for Jeannette’s Floragold glass. The pattern looks like Floragold, although the flowers and leaves are a little more rounded, but the scalloped rim and little curled feet look like the oval [...]

Doesn’t this look like one of the beautiful brocade etched elegant glass patterns? It is Dogwood depression glass from MacBeth Evans Glass. Depression glass was mass produced during the late 1920s through the 1930s and was inexpensive, sometimes even given away as premiums. People could go to the movies – and spend a nickel [...]

Isn’t this a neat design? Fostoria Glass Contour elegant pattern comes by its great mid-century modern looks honestly, as it was produced from 1955 to 1971. The wavy stem is unique and distinctive. All the Contour shapes are interesting, with extra waves or curls. It helps show off the gorgeous crystal glass. This [...]
